Travelling, is a media installation and a temporary public artwork located at Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía, Cordoba, Spain. The animated video screened at the exterior LED wall of the contemporary art centre was captured from the online experiment platform called High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV), which is part of the International Space Station (ISS) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The HDEV is a live steaming platform, continuously collecting images of the Earth from the ISS since 2014. Therefore, the video on the large scale LED wall is about the pure imagery of the shadow of clouds and other natural phenomenons from the floating perspective, the camera from the satellite showed the view of astronaut, more even, could be the ideal vision form the god.

The authority of technology has re-shaped our imagination about the fact of the world where we existed. I question if the ambiguity of light and shadow of this large-scale public work will provide a venting moment for us to re-imagine beyond the factual statement and physical limitation, bringing us into a much deeper universe within our imaginative world poetically. As the result, this large-scale public art became visible vehicles that lead the audiences to the unknown world through meditative moments in the public space with the sense of helplessness living in a milieu of exploding data yet kept esoteric by authorities.

這份特定環境裝置作品透過顛覆觀眾對先端科技的既有概念來重塑我們對抽像影像的理解。透過無法觸及和瞬間萬變的意境來解構關於真實的概念。

 

影像裝置作品中的主要片段攝取於美國太空總署(NASA)所持有的國際太空站(ISS) 中的 High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV)實驗計劃。

其HDEV計劃由2014年開始在串流平台無間斷地收集及放映從國際太空站作為視點的地球表面影像。

科技的權威性一直影響著我們對所生存環境的想像本能。我嘗試透過這份大型公共藝術作品中的光影的不確定性來提供一個集體放空的機會。

但願這樣的過程能讓我們跨越物理的束縛和單一的答案，最終能詩意地讓意識浮游於那個更深沉的宇宙。
